I've been a long time user of a Wii Pointer mouse cursor on my laptop, but when I upgraded my monitor, I began to notice how blurry the image of the pointer was. I went looking for really high quality Wii Pointer images, but couldn't find any, so I decided to jump into a vector art program and recreate them myself. Once I'd recreated the hand, it didn't seem like much effort to make extra icons to form a full cursor set.
I had slightly underestimated the work required to make the whole set, especially because I'd decided to make a set for each of the four player colours. So I decided to make the window scaling cursor be the B button, so they could be shared between each colourway.
The hardest part of making the cursors was creating the animated 'Working' spinners, as I had to write an entirely separate tool to convert the embedded SVG SMIL animations into frames, which I released as SMILer.
These cursors are available for Windows, MacOS (through Mousecape), and Linux, with 4 colour schemes available for each. Also I'm incredibly grateful to Eramdam for very kindly porting the set to MacOS.
